About PMP Certification

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification offers excellent project management training and is internationally recognized. A PMI certification course is offered by the Project Management Institute, the authoritative organization that regulates all project management rules and regulations. Since the PMP course is the gold standard in project management, many project managers pursue this certification. Candidates must pass the certification exam and meet all PMI requirements in order to earn this certification.

Requirements to achieve PMP certification

Requirements to be eligible for PMP exam prep are mentioned below:

✔ Applicants must have completed their 4-year degree and also worked as a project manager for at least three years.

✔ Students who have completed their secondary degree and have at least five years of experience in managing multiple paid projects are encouraged to apply for PMP certification.

✔ To become PMP-certified by achieving PMI certification, candidates must complete 35 hours of project management training.

What is the process of PMP application?

1. Application Method

There are two ways to apply for PMP certification for those candidates who are eligible for this course:

1) Paper Application Method (Offline) — In this method, candidates can apply for a PMP course individually to PMI and it would take almost 10 days to review the candidate’s application. There is another way, through which a candidate can apply for PMP certification through a corporation e.g. PMI authorized institution or education provider, then PMI would take almost 20 days to review the candidate’s application.

2) Online Application Method — To apply for any PMI certification course, candidates must create an account on the official website of PMI. This is the most recommended method, the reason why it is famous is that it is easier than the paper application method (offline). Through this method, applicants can easily evaluate their eligibility for a PMP exam prep and after submitting their application, it is easy for them to keep track of their application status.

Candidates just need to visit the official website of PMI i.e. pmi.org to create their online profile. Candidates just need to follow the steps that are given below to create profile:

Step 1 — In the very first step, candidates have to click on the button called “register” that is on home of the website.

Step 2 — After that, in the next step, candidates are required to fill up all their required personal details, as it is important step is asked to complete in every PMI certification course.

Step 3 — Once the candidates fill up all the required details, then they have to create the profile by making a unique username and password.

3. Application Process

To complete the application process, you just need to provide information related to education, experience, and exam details and follow the steps given below:

Step 1 — Educational Information

In this step, there are only two eligibility criteria set by PMI that need to be fulfilled to pursue any PMI certification — 1. Project Management Experience, 2. Project Management Education.

1. Project Management Experience

● Candidates who have completed their secondary degree, high school diploma, or any other associate degree should have worked for at least 5 years as a project manager so that they can be eligible for PMP exam prep that is 35 hours of professional project management educational training.

● Candidates who have 3 years of experience as a professional project manager and completed their 35 hours of professional project management educational training are eligible for PMP exam prep only if they have completed their 4 years of bachelor’s degree.

● Candidates who have 2 years of experience as the project management are required to complete their 35 hours of project management educational professional training for PMP exam prep and is for only those candidates who have completed their post-graduation.

2. Project Management Education

This is the most important part of the PMP exam prep application process because based on the highest education, you can determine whether you can satisfy the requirements in the application or not. To fill out the education information follow the steps given below:

Step 1 — Candidates asked to provide information related to their graduation e.g. from where and when they have completed their graduation.

Step 2 — From where and when they have completed 35 hours of PMP certification training.

Step 2 — Experience

Candidates need to demonstrate their documents for PMP exam prep and all the information that is only related to their project management experience. The steps to demonstrate information are given below:

Step 1 — In the very first step, click on “Add” button to add project experience and then fill out other details like Project title, start date, end date, project role and primary industry, and click on “save and continue” to save the information.

Step 2 — After that, candidates need to fill out the information about the organization in which they have worked as a project manager.

Step 3 — Candidates need to provide the contact information of a person from their organization who can refer to or give details about their project management experience.

Step 4 — In this step, candidates are required to describe the number of hours they have spent on the projects.

Step 5 — In this step, candidates just need to describe their project goals, your roles, and responsibilities within 300–550 characters.

Step 6 — In this step, applicants can check whether they are fulfilling experience requirements or not. If they are not then they can add their experience.

Step 7 — Once the requirements are satisfied then candidates can click on “save and continue” to save the details.

Step 3 — In this step, candidates just need to fill out four basic pieces of information that needs to be provided in exam details that are — Candidate’s name, email address, permanent address, and phone number.

4. Project Management Institute Audit

In this process of any PMI certification, PMI can select randomly some candidates to verify their credentials and experience. PMI can ask candidates to provide the following details:

✔ Copy of graduation degree and 35 hours of educational training certificate.

✔ The signature of the contact person was mentioned in the application on a form in which all the work experience details were mentioned.

✔ PMI will ask candidates to contact that person just to verify that they have worked on the projects that they have mentioned.
