What are the requirements for PMP certification?
Requirements to get PMP certification are given below:
- Candidates must have completed their 4-year degree and have worked as a project manager for at least three years.
- Students who have completed a second degree and have at least five years of experience managing multiple paid projects are encouraged to apply for PMP certification.
· To become a PMP certified project manager, you must complete 35 hours of project management training.
What is the process of PMP application?
1. Application Method
There are two ways to apply for PMP certification for those candidates who are eligible for this course:
Online Application Method — Candidates can apply through the official website of PMI (https://www.pmi.org/) and for that, they just need to create an account. This method is recommended by PMI, as it is easier than the paper application method.
2. Create Account
In order to create account in pmi.org you need to follow the steps given below:
· Step 1 — Click on “register” button on home page.
· Step 2 — In this step, you need to create an account by filling up all the required personal details.
· Step 3 — After all the required details now you need to fill up account information like create username, password, etc. and click on “create account”.
3. Application Process
To complete the application process, you just need to provide information related to education, experience, exam details and follow the steps given below:
· Step 1 — Educational Information
In this step, there are two eligibilities criteria set by PMI that needs to be fulfil to be eligible for PMP certification — 1. Project Management Experience, 2. Project Management Education.
1. Project Management Education
· Candidates who have completed their 4 years of degree and have 3 years of experience as a project manager and manage multiple professional projects.
· Candidates who have completed their second degree and have at least 5 years of experience in managing multiple paid projects.
· 35 hours of PMP certification training is mandatory.
2. Project Management Experience
· 4500 hours of experience as a project manager is needed if they have completed their 4 years of degree.
· 7500 hours of experience is required (if the candidates only have a high school diploma).
· Step 2 — Experience
In this step, candidates need to provide all the work experience-related information that has been done in the last 8 years. Only project management-related experience will be counted. You need to follow the steps given below to fill out information related to work experience:
· Step 3 — Exam Details
This step is very simply you just need to fill out four basic information that need to be provided in exam details that are — Candidate’s name, email address, permanent address, and phone number.
4. Project Management Institute Audit
In this process, PMI can select randomly some candidates to verify their credentials and experience. PMI can ask you to provide following details:
§ Copy of your graduation degree and 35 hours educational training certificate.
§ Signature of contact person that was mentioned in the application on a form in which all the work experience details were mentioned.
§ PMI will ask you to contact that person just to verify that you have worked on the projects that you have mentioned.
So, you just make sure that your contact person agrees with the content of your application before you submit it.
